Ad-hoc AI Consulting

Buy hours, not a program

Sometimes you do not need a six-month transformation. You need one decision made well, one architecture reviewed, or one prototype in front of the board on Thursday.

Implementation & AI engineering

Hands on the keyboard, shipping the thing.

  • Agentic prototypes built in days, not quarters

How It Works

Three steps, no paperwork marathon

01

A short call

Thirty minutes to establish what you actually need and whether hours are the right instrument at all.

02

A scoped block

We agree an estimated number of hours and what "done" means. Minimum block is four hours; most start between eight and sixteen.

03

Work and report

I work, you get the output and a log of where the hours went. Invoiced monthly for the hours actually used.

When hours stop being the right instrument

Hours work when the need has edges. Once the work becomes continuous — when priorities need owning between our sessions, or you are consistently buying more than about twenty hours a month — a retainer is cheaper and produces more.

At that point, move to the Fractional AI Lead retainer, or step up to the AI-Native Transformation Program.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does ad-hoc AI consulting cost?

€170 per hour + VAT for AI strategy, advisory, architecture review and ROI assessment. €100 per hour + VAT for implementation and AI engineering work. Minimum block is four hours, invoiced monthly for hours actually used.

Why are the two rates different?

They buy different things. The strategy rate buys judgement built on twenty years in IT, a CTO role and 30+ AI projects — that hour can change a six-figure decision. The implementation rate buys delivery, which is more predictable and takes more hours, so it is priced to make longer builds sensible.

When should I take hours instead of a retainer?

Take hours when the need has a clear boundary: one decision, one review, one prototype. Move to the Fractional AI Lead retainer when the work becomes continuous, when priorities need owning between sessions, or when you are consistently buying more than about twenty hours a month.

Is there a minimum commitment?

No term commitment. The only minimum is a four-hour block, because anything shorter costs more in context-switching than it delivers.

Can hours convert into a bigger engagement?

Yes, and that is the usual path. Several retainers and one six-month transformation program started as a single block of strategy hours.
